The following are policies to which you agree to abide by when you book a massage in our teaching clinic:
* No perfumes, scents, etc.; good personal hygiene.
* Not here while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
* Cell phones off; if a call must be taken/made, client leaves Clinic room.
* Tips are not expected but gratefully accepted.
* The client takes responsibility for personal belongings.
* Control of pressure is up to the client; clients may ask for less pressure, and may end the massage session if uncomfortable.
* Please state all the medical conditions your massage therapist needs to know.
* The massages offered at SBBW School of Massage Training are for therapeutic purposes only. Therefore, any sexually implicit behavior will result in the immediate termination of the session for which no refund will be given. Furthermore, we will no longer allow you to be a client of the SBBW Teaching Clinic.
* The student massage therapist does not diagnose illness, disease, or any physical or mental disorder; does not prescribe medical or pharmaceutical treatment; and does not do spinal manipulations. This massage is not a substitute for medical care by licensed health care providers.
* Any client under 18 years old is required to have a parent/guardian present in the cubicle for the duration of the massage. If the parent/guardian is also receiving a massage the minor will be assigned to a cubicle adjacent to that of the parent/guardian and the curtain between the cubicles will be open.
* 24 hour cancellation policy, or a $20 fee is levied.
* A confirmation call, text, or e-mail from SBBW is solely a courtesy; the client is responsible for keeping the appointment with or without a confirmation call.
* This is massage therapy training, and a Teacher or other student may enter the cubicle to observe the student and their massage therapist training.
* The Clinic is an SBBW massage therapy training class, and student absences may occur which may cause your session to be cancelled. If that happens, you will be given $20 off your next appointment at SBBW's school of massage student clinic.
* Massage sessions will end at the scheduled time, even if you are late in arriving.
* You pay full price even if you are late, and your session may be cancelled if you are more than 15 minutes late.
Massage therapists are assigned randomly by the Clinic Supervisor. In this way they experience a variety of body types-that is part of the school of massage training. If possible, we try and honor gender requests as your comfort and security are utterly important, but cannot be guaranteed-as there are sometimes circumstances beyond our control. No special requests for a massage therapists size, age, race, etc. will be accommodated. Sorry, no exceptions.
When students have finished their required clinic hours, they will sometimes continue with clinics, but we encourage you to engage them professionally.
We hope that you understand that these clinics are a learning opportunity for our students, and invite you to offer feedback to your therapist throughout
the massage in order that they might develop the skills you have valued in previous therapists.
You are an integral part in molding the future massage therapists of Santa Barbara.
Thank you!
The student massage clinic is an extension of class in which students can practice their skills under the supervision and guidance of an instructor.
As such, it is necessary that some talking between students, clients, and supervisors be anticipated. We encourage questions from both students and clients about the massage being performed, and also encourage students to ask for client feedback pertaining to pressure and comfort throughout each session. But please remember to keep your voice at a whisper as there are other clients receiving massage around you!
We ask that all other conversation be held to a minimum so that those around you can focus on their bodies and the work that they are receiving.
-Thank you for your patience and courtesy-
