200 hours of certified training are required by the city and
county of Santa Barbara to obtain a business license to do massage
professionally. Our 200 hour program is designed to meet those
requirements.
Our 200-hour program offers the prospective student an opportunity
to explore and experience the synergy that occurs when the art
of Swedish massage is blended with a grounded approach to the
connections between the body, mind and spirit. Students will
receive thorough training in the essentials of massage. In addition
to traditional Swedish techniques, this introductory review focuses
on musculoskeletal anatomy, movement skills, sound body mechanics,
ethics, business and communication skills. Supervised clinics
and personalized coaching assistance support each individual's
learning process. A nature retreat is included in the curriculum
to help expose students to new perspectives and develop heightened
sensory awareness. Participation in community outreach activities
round out the requirements for completion of the program. You
will find that we offer both the lowest student/teacher ratios
and the highest percentage of actual classroom and supervised
hours required for certification. We feel that this makes us
uniquely qualified to provide you with the highest quality education
available.
After the 200-hour Massage Technician Training you may
either take classes on an individual basis or we offer two advanced
programs, the 600-hour Massage Therapist Certification or the
1000-hour Holistic Healthcare Practitioner Certification.
This program is designed for students interested in continuing
their education by studying advanced bodywork styles. This level
of training will broaden the students' knowledge base and thereby
increase their ability to address many more of their clients'
individual needs.
In the 600-hour program, there are only two required classes
of study. The remaining classes will be decided by the student,
enabling each individual to design his/her own program of study. This
program may be completed in a 12 to 24 month period.
